Houston’s police chief attacks Senators Cornyn and Cruz in temperamental tantrum over gun control

Houston’s police chief Art Acevedo, once again shot from the lip in a temperamental tantrum against Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, seemingly blaming them for the shooting death of HPD Sgt. Christopher Brewster.
Holding an impromptu news conference shortly after Brewster’s death, a wild-eyed, unhinged Acevedo displayed an apoplectic fit against the two Texas Republican senators when he ranted:
“Make up your minds. Whose side are you on? Gun manufacturers? The gun lobby, or the children who are getting gunned down in this country every single day? I don't want to see their little smug faces about how much they care about law enforcement when I'm burying a sergeant because they don't want to piss off the NRA. You start caring about cops, children and women and everyday gun violence. And that will be the last thing I say this week because the rest of this week is going to be about Christopher Brewster and his sacrifice.”
Shame, shame on Acevedo for politicizing the murder of a Houston police officer.
Acevedo is known for favoring sanctuary cities and gun control, and for shooting from the lip. He shot his big mouth off immediately after the disastrous Harding Street raid before he knew the facts behind that debacle.
Even Mayor Sylvester Turner, who appointed Acevedo just as he was about to be fired as Austin’s police chief, criticized his out of control appointee by saying: “This is a very painful moment. There is much that we could say about this tragedy, but right now, we need to focus our attention on giving support to the family and remembering Sgt. Christopher Brewster.”
Houston is right now in the midst of a mayoral election. If Tony Buzbee defeats Turner, which is unlikely to happen, one of his first acts should be to fire Acevedo.
