Corey Simmons, 47, was a resident of Washington State. Last Friday evening he was driving on Whidbey Island with his four-year olds in safety seats in the back. He was NOT wearing his seat belt. A tree jumped out in front of him and he hit it. Hard. Then the car went tumbling about 200 feet down a slope. He got pretty well pulverized. The girls survived, extricated themselves from the safety seats and the wrecked vehicle and climbed up the 200 foot slope to the road where they were spotted by a woman driving by. She picked them up and called the cops. The girls were taken to the hospital but suffered only minor injuries.
