COMPARATIVE POLITICS

by Bob Walsh

I watch a fair bit of the WE HATE TRUMP bash at the House of Representatives last night. The jerkoffs couldn't even get together to decide whether or not to send their asinine impeachment bill to the full house for a vote. If you are going to run a kangaroo court you should not be embarrassed to admit that is what you are doing, and then fucking just do it.

I also watched a fair bit of the UK election returns. Their elections can be fun. Lord Buckethead ran from the Official Monster Raving Loony Party against Boris Johnson in his home district for MP. Lord Buckethead lost, by about 125 to 22,000. There was also a guy in an Elmo muppett costume who was also running. He also lost.

The Scottish National Party made major inroads. They are screaming for ANOTHER referendum. They don't seem to remember that the last time, very recently, they lost by 11%. Right up to the day of the election all the polls were saying, "Less than 1% difference, too close to call." It seems that even in Scotland people talk long shit but in the end don't deliver. HOWEVER, Scotland is very pro-EU. Boris Johnson ran on a LET'S GET BREXIT DONE ticket and he won BIG. He has a substantial majority in parliament with his own Conservative party. He does not need a coalition to move things along. It is anticipated that there will be tweaks here and there for all of 2020, but the basic deal will be done by January 31. The UK will no longer be controlled in large part by a pack of unelected liberal asswipes in Belgium. If the Scots get another referendum they might just decide to bail. You never know.

So, there we are. It seems very likely that our own sorry-ass elected representative body will vote today to move their lame-ass impeachment bill on to the full house. The Democrats have 31 members, over 20 of them freshmen, in seats that Donald Trump carried big in 2016. If they vote for impeachment they could lose their gigs. The Democrats can carry the day (for the nonce) if they lose as many as 17 votes in the House. It is possible they will, but extremely unlikely.

The real fun will come in the senate. It still isn't clear what the Senate will do. They could call Hunter Biden in to testify. They could call Joe Biden. They could call "the whistleblower." They could call Horowitz. They could call Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. They could call Adam Schiff and demand to see the PROOF he claimed he had in his pocket for the last 18 months. They could also say "FUCK THIS SHIT" and call a vote right from the get go, fold this turkey up and send it to bed. I hope they go with Plan A. It will be much for fun to watch.
