Presumably the whole House of Representatives will vote on the articles of impeachment. Each one will want to make a speech. Some of them will be lengthy. Most will be stupid and irritating.
The current balance if my math is right is 233 Democrats, 197 Republicans, 1 Independent, and four vacant seats. That means there are currently 431 occupies seats, a majority will be 216.
It is possible, maybe even likely, that one or two rat-bastards will jump ship from the Republican side. It is almost certain that a few Democrats will either vote NO or PRESENT or have a dentist appointment that day. In order for the bill to fail the Democrats must lose at least 17 votes. Even with the bullshit and meaningless articles of impeachment, which do not even claim any violation of law, merely not kissing the congress' collective ass, will likely result in a positive vote because they both hate and fear Trump so much that many of them will risk their cushy jobs (because that is what some of them will be doing) to try to keep Trump from being elected again in 2020. That is, after all, what this is really all about. Ask Al Green if you don't believe me. It has NOTHING to do with anything Trump has allegedly done. It is all about trying to keep him from being elected again.
I feel privileged that I have witnessed three such exercises. One (which never actually got to a vote) rightfully got rid of Richard Nixon. One should have, but did not, get rid of Bill Clinton. This one will certainly NOT get rid of Donald Trump and will likely even cement him more firmly into power. The Democrats have so completely bought into their own bullshit that they are damaging themselves just for the opportunity to piss on Trump's shoes, without realizing (or maybe without caring) that they are really pissing on their own.
How tragic it must be for a group of people to push themselves so far over the edge they have no choice but to jump and hope they can learn how to fly on the way down. Tragic, but fun to watch.
