Billy Bob up in Gun Barrell City has always wanted some Brass Knuckles and Governor Abbott has made sure all the Good Ole' Boys and Girls in Texas can buy them after September 1, 2019. Governor Abbott didn't stop there. He signed HB 446 which also makes it legal to carry a Tomahawk and Trench Knife.

This bill came about because a pretty young lady had a commonly sold knuckle device on her key chain and was arrested for a Class A misdemeanor in Austin. It hit the local news and then went statewide. People were shocked and appalled at the sight of this young girl being hauled off to jail for carrying something that looked like a Kitty Keychain. Some may have said that it was a Bullshit charge.

With the State Legislature fixing to convene, letters and phones calls began to pour in. People wanted the law changed. Pronto! The bill was filed by State Representative Joe Moody from El Paso which is barely in Texas and in fact is in a different time zone. Generally more centrally located Texans don't hear to much from folks out past Lubbock. The hue and cry was heard and HB 446 passed both the House and Senate unanimously.

A wrong was definitely righted with HB 446 and a whole new batch of stocking stuffers will be available this year.

EPILOGUE

All guns with the exception of fully automatic can be purchased over the counter in Texas. All edged weapons, tasers, stun guns, switchblades, stilettos, knuckles and clubs can be purchased and carried legally. If you want explosives for the big bangs, you can buy Tannerite by the pound. There are no limits to the amount of ammo a person can purchase or store. There are no limits to the number of rounds in a magazine. Drum magazines are common holding 100 or more rounds which is great for nighttime no limit hog hunts!

"The Gun Control Debate was Settled in 1791." - Texas Governor Greg Abbott

That's the way I see it.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I agree the key chain bust was stupid. But legalizing brass knucks? That's crazy. True brass knuckles are not defensive weapons. They are the tools of thugs who do not happen to be carrying guns.
