When a sick fuck shot up the elementary school at New Town, Ct. the school was bulldozed very quickly and rebuilt with state money. I wrote about it at the time. I had mixed feelings, but it was an elementary school (little kids) and the cost was being spread around via state funding.
Now the superintendent at Columbine, Colorado, 20 years after the shooting, wants the local tax payers to fund bulldozing the old school (which is still perfectly good physically) and build a brand new Columbine high school right next to where the old one stood. Allegedly this is to discourage the nut cases that Columbine draws.
I know if I lived there I would say HELL NO. None of the kids attending Columbine now were even alive when the original shooting happened. By the time you get into high school you should be able to deal with a little bit of stress and indirect notoriety. And $70 million is a hell of a lot of money that could be better spent.
Shit happens. By the time you get to high school you should be able to deal with a little bit of shit, especially if its ancient shit.
EDITOR'S NOTE: "By the time you get to high school you should be able to deal with a little bit of shit." No, Bob, we've become a nation of pussies!
