The Los Angeles Police Department was investigating the overnight disappearance of a Marilyn Monroe statue from the top of a gazebo in Hollywood.
Located right off the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Ladies of Hollywood gazebo honors women in film including Mae West, Dorothy Dandrige, Doores del RÍo, and Anna May Wong.
A witness told LAPD that they saw a man with a hacksaw climb up the statue. The witness also said they didn’t know what was going on but that no one stopped him.
The stolen Monroe statue replicated her iconic white dress scene in "The Seven Year Itch" and was dedicated in 1994.
The investigation is ongoing. LAPD has not released the name of any suspects and is asking anyone with information regarding the case to contact them.
