Gun Of The Week

The Gun of the Week is sort of an exercise in excess, the Zeliska revolver. It is intended strictly for people who have more money than brains and want something that they can be almost 100% sure that none of their shooting buddies have, nor even particularly want.
This is a single-action five-shot revolver. It weighs a bit over 13 pounds and is 22 inches long with a 13 inch barrel. The cylinder by itself weighs more than most hand guns, 4 ½ pounds. It comes chambered for one of two cartridges, either the .600 nitro express or the .458 Winchester magnum. These are both cartridges developed for elephant guns, not for hand guns.
The weapon itself cost a bit over $17,000. The .600 nitro cartridges are $40 each. If you actually want to shoot the damn thing you might want to go with the .458 Winchester, which cost a LOT less. In the .600 chambering it fires a 900 grain slug at over 1,500 fps with muzzle energy of over 7,500 foot/pounds.
The weapon is produced by Pfeifer Waffen in Austria. I strongly suspect they are all made to order, so finding one just laying around on the shelf in your local gun store is an unlikely expectation.
If you have a serious rogue elephant problem in your home town you might want to have one, though if it was me I think I would just go with a rifle. I value my wrists too much.
EDITOR’S NOTE: You can bet Dirty Harry and especially detective Sledge Hammer would dearly want this make their day weapon.
