Rodrigo Duterte is the President of the Philippines. He said in a speech Friday that he would be happy to slaughter the three million drug addicts in the Philippines.
That is kind of radical, however I would like to point out that the People's Republic of China managed to bring their significant drug problem into check with a similar program. They sent the army out to every opium den they could find, shot everybody in the building and then burned the building down. It pretty much eliminated their opium addiction problem in about one year. Not real subtle, but terribly effective.
Duterte might have a somewhat draconian drug program, but were he to actually pull it off it would be effective.
Just saying.
