When a Johnson County, Kansas female sheriff’s deputy in civilian clothes arrived on her way to work at the department’s parking lot about 11:30 p,m. Friday, she experienced what would be more than just a bad hair day. Two men overpowered her, forced her into their car, drove off and raped her multiple times.

Several hours later they dropped her off on a dark road in Missouri, not far from the Jackson County Sheriff’s department. She managed to reach the sheriff’s office where she received help.

After an intensive manhunt and with the help of a tip, William Luth, 24, and Brady Newman-Caddell, 21, were arrested in Missouri and locked up in the Jackson county jail. Both men waived extradition and were transferred to the Johnson County jail, charged with aggravated kidnapping, two counts of rape each and aggravated sodomy. Bail was set at $1 million for each man.

According to the investigation, Luth and Newman-Caddell followed the victim from a QuikTrip market to the sheriff department’s parking lot.

The victim is in her 20s and had been a deputy for only six months. She is reported to be recovering with the help of family and friends.

It has been suggested that the victim had a prior relationship with her attackers but the Sheriff said he would not talk about that.
