DADDY MUST BE REAL PROUD OF ENTREPRENEURING DAUGHTER

19-year-old student established her own business to work her way through college

BarkGrowlBite | November 30, 2015

Sarah Elizabeth Furay, 19, was working her way through college while attending Texas A&M University. You can’t fault her for that. However, the business she established was a wee bit illegal. Sarah was dealing cocaine, pot, Ecstacy and NBOME, a designer drug similar to LSD.

Earlier this month, College Station police obtained a search warrant for the entrepreneuring young lady’s apartment. They came up with 31.5 grams of cocaine, more than four ounces of marijuana, 29 Ecstasy tablets and 60 dosage units of 25C NBOME. The cops also found packaging material, a digital scale and a handwritten drug price list.

Sarah faces two first-degree felony charges and one second-degree felony charge for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. If convicted on all three charges she could be sentenced to 215 years in prison and up to $30,000 in fines.

At the time of booking, Sarah grinned for her mug shot. She was released on $39,000 bail.

Daddy must be real proud of his precious Sarah. Bill Furay is the entrepreneuring young lady’s father. Daddy also happens to be the agent-in-charge of the DEA office in Beaumont, Texas.

VETERAN COP IN DEEP DOODOO FOR TWEETING THAT BLACK LIVES MATTER ARE FOOLS

A 24-year veteran Portland, Oregon cop is under investigation for expressing his opinion on social media

"Black Lives Matter is planning to protest at Lloyd Center on black Friday. Oh joy, stuck late again at work to babysit these fools."

That’s what Portland, Oregon police officer John Hurlman tweeted on Friday night. Second thoughts led him to delete the tweet, but alas, it was too late. The police brass found out about the tweet. They immediately took the 24-year veteran off the streets and placed him under investigation.

Actually, I thought that Hurlman was rather kind to Black Lives Matter. I can think of some much more appropriate descriptive terms than ‘fools’, most of which consist of unprintable words.

It appears that John is looking at an early retirement. Another cop goes down in flames for sounding off on social media, even when he speaks the truth about Black Lives Matter rabble being fools.

Nowadays rabble rules the day over gutless, uber-politically sensitive police administrators.

COP IN TROUBLE OVER BLACK LIVES MATTER TWEET
Portland Officer John Hurlman has been taken off the street after posting a message saying he'd be stuck late at work Friday night "to babysit these fools."

By Maxine Bernstein | The Oregonian | November 26, 2015

PORTLAND, Oregon -- A Portland police officer who wrote a Twitter message complaining that he'd be stuck late at work Friday night "to babysit these fools,'' referring to a planned Black Lives Matter-Not Black Friday march at Lloyd Center, has been taken off the street while an internal investigation proceeds.

Portland police Acting Chief Donna Henderson, filling in for Chief Larry O'Dea who is off until next week, announced the investigation Tuesday afternoon in a news release.

"I am highly offended, and I think other people should be,'' said Teressa Raiford, a community activist involved in Black Lives Matter and Don't Shoot Portland. "I think it's very unprofessional, especially someone in his position.''

Officer John Hurlman, a 24-year bureau veteran, removed the post from his Twitter feed, but a screen shot was caught by others.

His message read, "Black Lives Matter is planning to protest at Lloyd Center on black Friday. Oh joy, stuck late again at work to babysit these fools."

Henderson said she learned of the message on Tuesday. Hurlman did not return a phone message for comment.

"This post is in no way a reflection of how members of the Portland Police Bureau view these community groups or their peaceful expression of free speech,'' Henderson said, in a prepared statement. "Just as with any protest or demonstration, police will work to ensure a safe, secure and orderly event for all community members and to minimize disruptions to traffic.''

This is not the first time Hurlman, a North Precinct officer who works day shift, has gotten into trouble for an electronic message.

In September 2012, Hurlman sent an email message on his patrol car's mobile computer that went out to the entire police force by accident. It was while he was seated in his patrol car, listening to radio coverage of a news conference where Oregon's U.S. Attorney and members of the U.S. Department of Justice announced that a federal investigation had found Portland police engaged in a pattern of excessive force against people suffering from mental illness.

Annoyed by the outcome, Hurlman intended to respond to another officer's email but sent a message to the entire police force, writing something like, "This is the same DOJ or people who created Waco and Ruby Ridge."

Afterwards, Hurlman told The Oregonian that it was a "knee-jerk reaction,'' and he apologized for it. At that time, his precinct commander Mike Leloff called him into his office and gave him a stern warning. Hurlman then said he was advised to be careful about what he says and remain respectful.

The Black Lives Matter, Not Black Friday march is scheduled from 1 to 10 p.m. Friday at Holladay Park across from Lloyd Center Mall. It's to protest the year's high-profile police killings of people of color around the nation and other police brutality, the event's Facebook page says.

Henderson, the acting police chief, in her prepared statement, said she recognizes and understands that "tensions are running high across the United States, especially with recent incidents in other cities.''

"At the Portland Police Bureau, we are mindful of that and remain committed to building relationships and trust in the community we serve,'' Henderson said.

FORMER OFFICER IN SHOOTING HOAX FOUND DEAD

Bryan Johnson, a former Millis, Mass. officer, claimed that a pickup truck driver fired at his cop car when in fact he himself shot out the windshield

Boston Herald | November 27, 2015

MILLIS, Massachusetts -- A former Millis police officer — indicted last week for allegedly making a hoax bomb threat and faking a shootout — was found dead in his home before dawn on Thanksgiving Day, authorities said.

Bryan Johnson, 24, was found at about 3:30 a.m. by a resident of his home, who called police, authorities said. There were no signs of foul play and the death is not currently being investigated as a homicide, a spokeswoman for the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office said.

Last week, a Norfolk County grand jury issued six indictments against Johnson, including new charges stemming from a false bomb threat at Millis High School the same day Johnson is alleged to have staged a shootout with a nonexistent motorist.

According to prosecutors, on Sept. 2, Johnson fired his personal firearm into his own department-issued SUV before telling police that a man in a pickup truck opened fire on his vehicle.

Johnson’s claim forced the community to shelter in place and schools went into lockdown while authorities launched an area-wide manhunt that included about 20 state troopers and detectives, a helicopter, armored cars and more than 50 heavily armed officers from the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council.

Johnson pleaded not guilty at his original arraignment in Wrentham District Court in September.

After his indictment last week, he was to be arraigned in Norfolk Superior Court at a later date.

“While Mr. Johnson continues to enjoy the constitutional presumption of his innocence, we believe the scope of the conduct alleged here makes Superior Court the appropriate venue,” Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey said in a statement last week.

Johnson faced more than 40 years in prison if convicted of the charges, which included calling in the fake bomb threat, misleading a criminal investigation, making a false police report and willful destruction of property for damage to his cruiser windshield by shooting a firearm into it.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Another nutcase that slipped through the cracks during the pre-employment screening. I suspect a medical examination will show that he took his own life.

GREAT GUN COMMERCIAL

PUT THAT CIGARETTE OUT … BANG

Waffle House waitress in Biloxi is shot dead when she tells a customer to put his cigarette out

Johnny Max Mount, 45, was enjoying a smoke at 1 a.m. Friday inside a Biloxi, Mississippi Waffle House when a waitress had the audacity to tell him to put his cigarette out. Well, good old Johnny would have none of that. He whipped out his 9mm and shot the 52-year-old woman dead in the head.

Mount was busted by Biloxi cops as he walked out of the eatery. Reports did not say whether he was still smoking his cigarette.

Mount is being held on a first-degree murder charge with bond set at $2 million. Hopefully he enjoyed that smoke because it may be some time before he can light up another cigarette.

WHERE IS YOUR WIFE?

One day I accidentally overturned my golf cart, but very fortunately, Vanessa, a very attractive and keen golfer, who lived in a beautiful villa on the edge of the golf course, heard the noise and called out:

"Are you okay, what's your name?"

"Its Phil and I'm okay, thanks!" I replied.

"Phil, forget your troubles. Come on up to my villa, rest a while and I'll help you get the cart turned right side up later."

"That's mighty nice of you," I answered, "....but I don't think my wife would like it."

"Oh, come on," Vanessa insisted.

Well, she was very pretty, very sexy and very persuasive, and like many men, I was weak.

"Well okay," I finally agreed, and added, "but I know that my wife sure won't like it."

After a few restorative snifters of expensive brandy, and some "creative putting lessons", I
thanked my host saying,

"I feel a lot better now, but I know my wife is going to be really upset."

"Don't be silly!" Vanessa said with a sexy smile: "She won't know anything. ......By the way, where is she, anyway?"

"Still pissing and moaning under the golf cart," I replied

WHAT ARE FRIENDS FOR?

Jack goes to his friend Mike and says ."I'm sleeping with the minister's wife. Can you keep him back in church for an hour after service for me?"

Mike doesn't like it but, being a friend, he agrees. After the service, Mike starts talking to the minister, asking him all sorts of stupid questions, just to keep him occupied. Finally the minister gets annoyed and asks Mike what he's really up to.

Mike, feeling guilty, finally confesses to the minister..."My friend is sleeping with your wife right now, so he asked me to keep you occupied."

The minister thinks for a minute, smiles, puts a brotherly hand on Mike's shoulder and says..."You had best hurry on home now. My wife died a year ago."

MURDER CHARGE IN DECADE-DELAYED DEATH

In 2005, Christopher Edward Byrd shook 11-month-old Savannah Quake so hard that she never regained consciousness before she died from ‘shaken baby syndrome’ in January of this year

By Bo9b Walsh

PACOVILLA Corrections blog | November 26, 2015

Christopher Edward Byrd, 39, is not a nice man. He pleaded guilty to child abuse for the violent shaking injury of an 11-month-old girl in La Habra, California that took place in January 2005. He got four years on that beef. He is currently doing nine years in Orange County for running a chop shop.

The girl never recovered from the original incident and had to be on a ventilator to keep her alive. She never regained consciousness and died in January of this year. Byrd is now being prosecuted for murder in her death. He could get 25 to life if convicted.

PENNSYLVANIA WOMAN ACCUSED OF OPERATING PROSTITUTION RING: ‘IT WAS MASSAGES WITH FREE FUN AFTER WORK’

Crystal Sweigart says, “I'm not saying that I'm not guilty, I'm just not a prostitute”

By Wesley Robinson

PennLive
November 20, 2015

MOUNT JOY, PA — A Mount Joy woman accused of running a prostitution ring out of her home said her only crime is operating a massage business without a license.

"It was massages with free fun after work," said Crystal Sweigart on Thursday in her home in the 10 block of Hopewell Street in the borough. "Being labeled as a prostitute isn't what I was doing. I was giving pleasure without expecting any money."

Sweigart, 32, is charged with misdemeanor prostitution. She was arrested on Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. and released on $2,500 unsecured bail.

Mount Joy police Chief Maurice Williams said a two-week investigation found that Sweigart was advertising massages on Craigslist. Police raided Sweigart's home Tuesday when the woman was arrested. He added that he was not releasing any additional information to prevent compromising the investigation and because more charges may be filed.

Sweigart declined to comment on others involved in the case. A neighbor, Bonnie L. Aulthouse, 49, of Mount Joy, was arrested with Sweigart on Tuesday for felony promoting prostitution. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Charles E. Ford, 39, of Modena, for felony promoting prostitution as well.

According to charging documents, police received numerous complaints of heavy traffic at Sweigart's home, noting that several people thought prostitution was occurring at the home. Multiple men told police that Sweigart and Aulthouse were operating a prostitution ring at the home, police said.

Police confirmed the high amount of traffic through surveillance, according to charging documents. Police said Sweigart and Aulthouse confirmed that prostitution was occurring at the home, according to charging documents.

LancasterOnline.com reported that Sweigart told police she made $400 daily and had five to 10 clients per day. Aulthouse and Ford were responsible for managing the Craigslist page, booking clients and assisting in taking money in exchange for sex acts, according to the report.

Three men were arrested after they were seen leaving Sweigart's home and charged with soliciting prostitution: Todd A Morris, 52, of Middletown; Andrew G. Reynolds, 44, of New Cumberland; and William B Trousdale, 63, of Harrisburg.

Sweigart said she studied to be a licensed masseuse but circumstances prevented her from obtaining a license. She noted that licensed masseuses cannot perform any sex acts.

"Anything that happened when the massage stopped becomes two consenting adults having fun," Sweigart said. "What I'm complaining about is (police) labeling it as [prostitution]."

Throughout an interview with PennLive, Sweigart maintained that she did not ask for money for sex or sex acts. She said she charged $50 for a massage and anything after that was between friends who sometimes gave her money.

"Did I refuse the money? No," Sweigart said. "Should I have or would it have looked better on me if I didn't? Probably."

Pointing to her phone, Sweigart said she had at least 222 clients. Many more clients were coordinated through email or Craigslist, she said. Some of the men became the friends with whom she would engage in sex acts with, adding that she knew all of the men who paid her above the rate for a massage.

The goal was to make her clients happy, something many of her regulars sought, Sweigart said. She described herself as an open-minded, sexual person who connected with men who were unfulfilled.

"I didn't answer the ads, they answered me," Sweigart said. "I can't take all of the blame."

Sweigart said police seized all of her business equipment as well as sex toys and other items she used when she engaged in sex acts. In am moment of levity, Sweigart joked that she should have done workshops for couples in need.

Sweigart tearfully addressed the fact that people would judge her based on reports of prostitution charges, adding that it was a bad decision on her part to accept money for sex acts and operate a business illegally.

"I'm not saying that I'm not guilty, I'm just not a prostitute," Sweigart said.

TRUMP CALLS FOR NUREMBERG-LIKE LAW FOR AMERICAN MUSLIMS

The Donald wants all American Muslims to register so that the government can keep track of them

BarkGrowlBite | November 21, 2015

In the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris, presidential candidate Donald Trump on Thursday told reporters in Newton, Iowa that all Muslims in this country should be made to register so that the government will have a data base with which to keep track of them. “I would certainly implement that. Absolutely,” Trump trumpeted. He suggested that all Muslims be issued special identification cards.

Trump also told Yahoo News that in view of these dangerous times, he would consider warrantless searches. “We're going to have to -- we're going to have to look at a lot of things very closely,” Trump said. “We're going to have to do things that we never did before.”

Shades of Nazi Germany! Trump would impose a Nuremberg-like law on America’s Muslims.

As part of the Nuremberg Laws, Jews in Nazi Germany were required to carry special identification cards. They not only had to register with the regime, but they also had to register all their personal possessions, both domestic and foreign.

I’ve had some personal experience with crap similar to that which Trump is proposing. My father, who fought in the German army and was wounded during WWI, was forced out of an important position with Karstadt, a large German department store chain, because of the Nuremberg Laws that prohibited Aryans from employing Jews.

Anyone who supports Trump’s registration proposal, must have forgotten about, or never heard about, how we treated all the Japanese-Americans residing on the West Coast following Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor. They were all uprooted from their homes and interned in concentration camps. Many of their homes and most of their businesses were taken over by “loyal” Americans. After the war, the Japanese detainees were released, but many of them were unable to recover their homes and businesses.

That was a shameful time in our history. Almost all of the Japanese who were living in this country at the time of Pearl Harbor were hard working, law abiding citizens who were loyal to the United States. Yet they were all treated as if they were a fifth column ready to join with imperial Japan in attacking us.

Trump’s Nuremberg-like proposal views all American Muslims like we viewed all Japanese-Americans during WWII. Yet almost all American Muslims are like the Japanese we sent to concentration camps - hard working, law abiding citizens who are loyal to the United States.

Unfortunately there are dangerous Islamists like Maj. Nidal Hasan and the Boston bombers within our Muslim population. It makes good sense to arrest terrorist suspects before they have a chance to strike, but it is downright wrong and shameful to treat all American Muslims as if they are getting ready to attack us like the terrorists in Paris. This is not Nazi America, at least not yet.

When it comes to voting, Americans are not too bright. They proved that when they elected and reelected Obama. Should the voters be dumb enough to make the billionaire and TV personality our next president, will we then be shouting, “Heil Trump, heil Trump”?

AMONG PROSTITUTES ON CRAIGLIST, ONE IS ONLY 4-YEARS-OLD

A Houston father is busted for prostituting his 4-year-old daughter on Craiglist at $1,000 for 2 hours

BarkGrowlBite | November 17, 2015

Click2Houston reported Monday that Houston undercover cops busted Andrew Turley, 28, of West Houston and charged him with trafficking a child and prostitution of a minor after Turley had offered up his 4-year-old daughter for prostitution in the “casual encounters” section of Craiglist.

It all began with Houston Police Department officers doing the usual screening for prostitutes on Craiglist. When they found an ad for "Playing with Daddy's little girl,” they started negotiating with the ad placer and exchanged more than 60 emails with him up until November 12. After reaching an agreement for 2 hours at $1,000, undercover cops went to Turley’s apartment Thursday and found the 4-year-old girl naked under a blanket and doped up, possibly with sleeping pills. The cops then escorted Mr. Turley to the slammer.

When Turley appeared in court on Monday, he found a judge who was not very sympathetic to his predicament. Bond was set at $500,000 for each count and he was ordered to have no contact with the victim or any children, and no access to the internet.

If convicted, the slime bag faces between 5 and 99 years, or life in prison.

Turley remains cooped up in the Harris County jail where he should remain until hell freezes over. Or better yet, until some inmate who is incensed by the stench emitted from that slime ball, carves Turley up like a Thanksgiving Day turkey.

Which brings me back to Craiglist. Police all over the country have been making prostitution cases from ads placed on that website. So when is Craiglist going to be charged with promoting prostitution?

FLORIDA FOURTH GRADER THREATENED WITH SEXUAL HARASSMENT C

A 9-year-old Hillsborough County boy is accused of sexual harassment by school authorities for writing an unwanted love note to a classmate

BarkGrowlBite | November 15, 2015

The mother of a 9-year-old boy is highly pissed off at Hillsborough County, Florida school authorities for threatening to file sexual harassment charges against the fourth grader.

Her son has a crush on a girl in his class. He did what any red-blooded fourth grader would do if he had the trots for a girl. He wrote her love notes telling her she was “pretty and cute.” He drew a heart, inside of which he wrote, “I like you.” He also wrote, "I like your hair because it is not sloppy. I like your eyes because they sparkle like diamonds." Sweet, but the notes were unwanted.

To make matters worse, much worse, other boys in the school saw the notes and began teasing the love smitten youngster, saying that he wanted to see the girl naked, even though there was nothing whatsoever in the notes of a sexual nature.

That did it. All of a sudden he’s Public School Enemy Number 1. The 9-year-old sexual predator was sent to the principal’s office and told that if he wrote another note to the girl, he would be charged with sexual harassment.

His mother was infuriated. She told ABC Action News, “He’s 9. What little kid doesn't write love notes? My 9-year-old doesn't even know what sexual harassment means."

School authorities deny that they threatened to file sexual harassment charges against the boy. However, they said that since he wrote more than one note to the girl and those notes were unwanted, what he did bordered on harassment.

Dr. Valerie McClain, a licensed psychologist in Tampa, doesn't think this is sexual harassment. "It may be something he thought was very sweet and innocent," she told ABC Action News

According to ABC Action News, “Hillsborough schools said the problem was not the note itself, but the teasing and disruptions that followed. Spokesperson Tanya Arja said teachers discourage kids from passing notes because it can cause classroom disruptions like this one.”

I don’t blame the mother for being pissed off. And despite their denials, I believe the school authorities did threaten the fourth grader with sexual harassment charges.

With all the disruptions that go on in schools, one would think that the Hillsborough County school authorities could have found a more serious disruption to concentrate on.

WAS A LOVE TRIANGLE BEHIND THE SHOOTING OF CHRISTOPHER FEW AND HIS AUTISTIC SON?

The Daily Mail has uncovered that officer Norris Greenhouse Jr. and Christopher Few had clashed several times because both were having simultaneous affairs with the same woman

BarkGrowlBite | November 14, 2015

Following a short car chase in Marksville, Louisiana on the night of November 3, officers Norris Greenhouse Jr. and Derrick Stafford shot dead 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis and critically wounded his father Christopher Few. Stafford was a lieutenant with the Marksville PD and Greenhouse was an Alexandria city marshal, but that night both were moonlighting for the Marksville city marshal’s office.

During and after the chase, the two officers fired at least 18 rounds at Christopher Few’s SUV. Few was hospitalized in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds and Jeremy Mardis, his 6-year-old autistic son, died when he was shot five times in the head and chest. The cops claimed that Few was trying to run over them, but a video reportedly showed otherwise and even showed Few with his hands up.

Before the chase, Few had an argument with girlfriend Megan Dixon outside TJ’s Lounge. Few left to get Jeremy and soon after picking up the autistic first-grader, the two marshals tried to stop his SUV.

Three days after the shooting, Greenhouse and Stafford were busted by the Louisiana State Police and each was charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

Dixon, who recently tested positive for opiates and meth, has an extensive arrest record. She claims to be Few’s fiancée. However, the Daily Mail has dug up information that for months Dixon was also shacking up with Greenhouse.

According to the Daily Mail, friends of Dixon said that while she was living with Few, she was also carrying on an affair with Greenhouse and that this had been going on for months. During that time, the two men had several confrontations during one of which Few threatened Greenhouse.

What once appeared to be only a bad shooting now looks like a deliberate love triangle murder.

Unfortunately, that love triangle took the life of an innocent 6-year-old autistic boy, a crime deserving of a first-degree murder charge which carries the possibility of the death penalty.

8-YEAR-OLD ALABAMA BOY KNEW HOW TO STOP A BABY FROM CRYING

When one-year-old Kelci Lewis wouldn’t stop crying, an 8-year-old boy beat her to death

BarkGrowlBite | November 12, 2015

About 11 p.m. on October 10. Katerra Lewis, 26, and her roommate, a mother of five, left their Birmingham, Alabama home to go nightclubbing. Lewis left Kelci Lewis, her one-year old daughter, in the care of her roommate’s children who were between the ages of 2 and 8. Those children were far too young to care for each other.

While they were gone, Kelci began to cry. When the toddler wouldn’t stop crying, an 8-year old boy knew how to stop her. He savagely beat her to death.

When the two women returned home about 2 a.m., they did not bother to check on the children. In the morning, Lewis found Kelci unresponsive in her crib.

Birmingham police report that Kelci suffered severe head trauma and "major internal organ damage." Had the women bothered to check on the children when they returned home, paramedics might possibly have saved the baby’s life.

Lewis was arrested and charged with manslaughter. She was released from jail on a $15,000 bond. The 8-year-old boy is charged with murder and is in the custody of the state Department of Human Resources. The prosecutor has not said whether the other woman will face any charges.

I hope Katerra Lewis had herself a ball at that nightclub because I think that, in the near future, she will be spending many nights in the slammer.

13-YEAR-OLD SOUTH CAROLINA BOY SHOOTS BURGLAR DEAD

Home alone, a 13-year-old boy gets in a shootout with two burglars, leaving one burglar dead

BarkGrowlBite | November 12, 2015

A 13-year old Ladson, South Carolina boy was home alone Tuesday afternoon when he spotted two men trying to break in at the back door. The boy who was studying an online course feared for his life and grabbed his mother’s gun. He fired at the burglars through the door and they fired back. The two men fled in a car with the boy running after them and continuing to shoot.

By the time their car arrived at Trident Hospital it was peppered with bullet holes. 31-year-old Lamar Brown of Summerville died at the hospital from three gunshot wounds. 28-year-old Ira J. Bennett of North Charleston was taken into custody and charged with first-degree burglary and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

The boy’s mother, who was at work during the shootout, kept the gun for protection and had taught the boy how to protect himself.

Investigating officers from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office found a Colt .45 pistol near where the boy said the burglars were trying to break in.

That boy should be the leading candidate for Ladson’s Citizen of the Year award.

A NOTEWORTHY STORY FOR VETERANS DAY

A white Korean War Medal of Honor recipient tried to retrieve the remains of his black wingman from North Korea

On this Veterans Day there are many war stories that can be told, but here is one that is most noteworthy. It involves two Navy pilots during the Korean War, one a white Medal of Honor recipient and the other the Navy’s first black pilot.

Here is the Daily Mail report by the Associated Press of this remarkable story:

REMARKABLE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN THE NAVY’S FIRST BLACK PILOT AND THE PRIVILEGED MEDAL OF HONOR WINNER WHO CRASH LANDED TO SAVE HIM IN NORTH KOREA
Tom Hudner downed his own plane to save Jesse Brown in 1950, but when he couldn't pry him from the wreckage, he promised he would return

Associated Press
November 8, 2015

A Korean War pilot who crash landed his own plane to save the life of his dying comrade has revealed the unlikely friendship in a stunning new book.

Devotion tells the story of Navy airman and Medal of Honor winner Tom Hudner and Jesse Brown, who fought alongside each other in the dark days of the 1950s - when the U.S was locked in battle with Korea and communist China.

Brown, the first black pilot in the Navy, went down near the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea during a mission.

To rescue him, Hutner risked his own life and crash landed nearby, but Brown was stuck in the tangled wreckage.

A rescue helicopter eventually arrived to help the pair out, but Hutner was forced to make the agonizing decision to leave him there.

Before he left, he gave Brown a promise that he would return and get him.

Sixty years on, he kept that promise.

The now-91-year-old made it back to North Korea in 2013, in a bid to retrieve his remains.

But couldn't get to the crash site because of poor weather.

Both men were in their early 20s but lived a world apart.

The men were from vastly different backgrounds. Hudner grew up white and privileged in Massachusetts.

He shunned his family tradition of going to Havard University and instead signed up for the Naval academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Hudner told the Albany Times-Union: 'The friendship with Jesse took me out of that bubble and taught me that not everyone grew up like me.

Author Adam Makos says it's a story that had to be told.

He added: 'It's an inspirational story. Jesse Brown didn't get a fair shake from history.'

Hutner reveals not a day goes by where he doesn't think of Jesse. However, to him, Veterans Day stands out.

'It's a time of reflection for me more than anything,' he said. 'Especially about those who never came back.'

In an interview with CNN in 2013, Hudner said: 'The Marine pilot pulled me aside and said dusk was approaching and he couldn't fly the helicopter in the dark and the mountainous terrain, so he had to leave.'

The pair were well behind enemy lines and even if Hudner had managed to escape the clutches of the Chinese, it is unlikely he would have been able to survive the harsh winter.

'I told Jesse that we had to get some more equipment because we couldn't get him out with what we had. I don't know if he even heard me, I'm afraid by this time he had passed.'

The Korean War broke out in June 1950 when communist North Korea attacked its southern neighbour.

United Nations forces, made up primarily of US troops, fought on the side of South Korea. China fought with North Korea.

Choisin Reservoir was the scene of a harrowing battle waged during the brutal Korean winter, with frostbite a common injury. Arms and medical supplies also froze in subzero temperatures.

Of the 15,000 US troops involved, more than 3,000 died during the 17-day struggle.

But the Chinese forces paid a much greater price trying to force the allied troops from their positions -- some 60,000 replacements were required to replace men lost to firepower and cold.

An estimated 35,000 Chinese troops lost their lives during the conflict. Some 8,000 US soldiers are still missing in action.

Now, in a rare show of cooperation with a country it often calls the imperialistic enemy, North Korea has given permission for Hudner to return to Chosin Reservoir.

Hudner told CNN he did not think the trip would ever happen.

'We're very grateful to him (leader Kim Jong Un) and to the North Korean government that after all these years we've been given permission to look for Jesse's airplane,' he said.

He puts the chances of finding Brown's remains or his aircraft at 50-50, but said it was important.

And he believed severely strained US-North Korean relations could even get a boost.

IRS AND BANKING RULES REDUCE POT INDUSRY PROFITS

Unless Congress changes the laws, investing in the marijuana industry is not a good bet

Medical marijuana growers and distributers have become instant multi-millionaires and the same holds true for licensed growers and distributors in states that have legalized recreational pot. However, according to The Motley Fool, an investment adviser, investing in marijuana is playing with fire.

The proponents of pot promised that legalization would drive the illegal trade out of business, but local unlicensed growers and distributors, as well as the Mexican drug cartels, are doing more business than before the legalization of marijuana because potheads prefer to purchase the weed tax free.

And the illegal drug industry does not have to bother with IRS and banking rules that cut down on the profits of the legal pot industry.

From The Motley Fool:

Two key rules that are in need of change by Congrss if the marijuana industry hopes to thrive.

To begin with, U.S. tax code 280E prevents businesses that deal in illicit substances from taking normal business deductions. Since marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, and federal tax law supersedes state tax law, marijuana businesses are stuck with an exceptionally high tax burden. Unless Congress changes this, marijuana businesses will more than likely struggle to net substantial profits, which could hamper their expansion efforts and/or their ability to hire or buy more product.

The other issue here is that banks, in general, want next to nothing to do with the marijuana industry. Of the roughly 6,700 banks in the U.S., only around 3% are actively offering banking services to marijuana-based businesses. There are simply too many rules and regulations to follow relating to the marijuana industry for banks to be actively engaged. Worse yet, if the federal government decides at some point to reinstitute federal law over each state, banks could be found liable for money laundering. It's a risk many banks would just as soon not take.

With little access to basic banking services and a brutally high tax rate, the marijuana industry is not guaranteed to survive over the long run if Congress doesn't change its stance on the drug. It's for this reason that I'd suggest that whether you're for, against, or neutral on marijuana's nationwide legalization, you should stick to the sidelines as an investor. Without a clear long-term outlook, investing in marijuana is playing with fire.

A HOT 23-YEAR-OLD GIRL

After being married for 50 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day and said, "Fifty years ago we had a cheap house, a junk car, slept on a sofa bed and got to sleep every night with a hot 23-year-old girl!

Now I have a $750,000 home, a $45,000 car, a nice big bed and a large screen TV, but I'm sleeping with a 73-year-old woman. So I said to my wife "it seems to me that you're not holding up your side of things."

My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 23-year-old girl and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap house, driving a junk car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 10-inch black and white TV!

WITH THE ARMY RANGERS IT’S STILL A MAN’S WORLD

After three officers succeeded in becoming the first women Rangers, all other women have washed out of the special op course

BarkGrowlBite | November 8, 2015

A senior army official revealed Friday that all five women who started Ranger School last week failed to meet standards during the four-day physical assessment period and were dropped from the course.

16 women washed out of a course last April in which three officers succeeded in becoming the first women Rangers. That was the first course to accept women.

Here are the physical standards that all soldiers must meet during the Ranger Assessment Phase:

• 49 pushups

• 59 situps

• 6 chin-ups

• A 5-mile run in under 40 minutes

• Land navigation test

• Water assessment

• A 12-mile march, carrying a rucksack and water that weighs about 50 pounds, in under 3 hours

It must be noted that many men are also washed out because they too are unable to meet those physical standards. Having said that though, with the Army Rangers it’s still a man’s world.

MICHAEL MOORE AGREES WITH QUENTIN TARANTINO THAT POLICE OFFICERS ARE MURDERERS

BarkGrowlBite | November 8, 2015

It figures that Michael Moore, the fat slob of a far-left documentary producer, would come out in support of Quentin Tarantino and agree with him that police officers are murderers

And the ACLU of Southern California has now released a statement praising Tarantino. Thus the race baiting of the police goes on.

MICHAEL MOORE: I’M THE ONLY WHITE CELEBRITY STANDING UP FOR QUENTIN TARANTINO

The Hollywood Reporter | November 6, 2015

Michael Moore is stunned more Caucasian celebrities are not publicly in Quentin Tarantino's corner.

During an interview with THR on Friday, the director of the upcoming film Where to Invade Next said he is looking for answers while a fellow artist is being threatened by police and blasted in the media for comments he made at an anti-police brutality march last month in New York.

"Has any white person in this town, in the industry, stood up for Quentin Tarantino?" Moore said. "The white guy stuck his neck out there and they're trying to chop it off."

The Oscar-winning documentary maker said Tarantino taking part in the rally was "incredible," and it was time he speak up for the embattled filmmaker, whose latest project, The Hateful Eight, is due out on Christmas. "So, a couple of days ago I said, 'To hell with that, I'm going to stand up for him,' " Moore adds.

On Thursday, Moore posted a picture of Tarantino at the rally on his unverified Instagram page, along with a message of support.

Quentin Tarantino, a brave and good American, standing with families who've lost loved ones to police violence. Now certain police, the same ones who defend the cops who've killed unarmed innocent black citizens, are out to get Tarantino. They've called for a boycott of his movies. Really? I think just the opposite. I think millions of us not only stand with Tarantino, we're going to make sure we go see his next movie! Who's with me? Stay strong Quentin. They're just frightened and in shock that a well-known and respected white guy would dare to speak out.

Tarantino, at the rally, referred to police as "murderers." And while he has since clarified his remarks, saying he was talking about officers who kill unarmed men and women, Moore said he was accurate from the start.

"If the police know they have an unarmed person, and they're in the process of killing someone, and this someone is shouting I think a total of 13 times, 'I can't breathe' until he can't say it a 14th time because he literally can't breathe -- if I did that to you right now, I think I would be called a 'murderer.' I don't think I have a right to do that," Moore said.

Last weekend, Jamie Foxx also defended Tarantino during the Hollywood Film Awards.

"Keep telling the truth, keep speaking the truth, and don't worry about none of the haters," the Django Unchained actor said.

On Friday, The ACLU of Southern California released a statement defending Tarantino, saying he is correct.

"He has given voice to the frustrations of millions of Americans who stand for justice," the statement read. "And we raise our voice with his, speaking up as we have for decades to make it very clear that we condemn not the police, but police brutality and challenge the conspiracy of silence around police abuse."

CHICAGO GANGBANGERS GUNNING DOWN 9-YEAR-OLDS

Antonio Smith Jr. was gunned down August 20 and on Monday, Tyshawn Lee was shot multiple times in Chicago’s Southside

BarkGrowlBite | November 7, 2015

On August 20, Antonio Smith, 9, was found shot multiple times on a Chicago Southside concrete slab just a few feet from railroad tracks that have long served as the dividing line between two rival gang factions. Jabari Williams, 22, Derrick Allmon, 19, Michael Baker, 19 and Paris R. Denard, 19, all belonging to a faction of the Gangster Disciples, were arrested and charged with Antonio’s murder.

The four thugs had driven up in two cars and were getting ready to shoot two rival gang members when they believed that Antonio was warning their intended targets.

On Monday afternoon, Tyshawn Lee, 9, was walking down a Southside alley on the way from school to his grandmother’s home when he was shot multiple times in the head and body. Police believe his father was a street gang member and the shooting was in retaliation for the shooting of two rival gang members last month.

Neither Antonio nor Tyshawn were affiliated with a gang.

The Southside community, as well as all of Chicago, is in an uproar over the deliberate targeting of the two 9-year-olds.

Hey folks, come on now, don’t get your poopies all riled up. This is America, land of the free! If a bunch of gangbangers want to gun down some 9-year-old boys, they ought to be free to do so. God bless America!

DEA CHIEF SAYS SMOKING MARIJUANA AS MEDICINE “IS A JOKE”

Chuck Rosenberg also agrees with FBI Director James Comey that crime rates may be going up in major cities because police officers are too concerned about viral videos to enforce the law

By Paula Reid and Stephanie Condon

CBS News
November 4, 2015

DEA chief Chuck Rosenberg on Wednesday rejected the notion that smoking marijuana is "medicine," calling the premise a "joke."

"What really bothers me is the notion that marijuana is also medicinal -- because it's not," Rosenberg said in a briefing to reporters. "We can have an intellectually honest debate about whether we should legalize something that is bad and dangerous, but don't call it medicine -- that is a joke."

As more and more states experiment with loosening marijuana laws, Rosenberg said that people shouldn't conflate the issue of legalizing recreational marijuana with medicinal marijuana.

"There are pieces of marijuana -- extracts or constituents or component parts -- that have great promise" medicinally, he said. "But if you talk about smoking the leaf of marijuana -- which is what people are talking about when they talk about medicinal marijuana -- it has never been shown to be safe or effective as a medicine."

Rosenberg's remarks coincide with the release of the DEA's 2015 National Drug Threat Assessment Summary, which shows that drug use is up among most types of illicit drugs, except for cocaine. Each day in the United States, over 120 people die as a result of a drug overdose, the report says.

The report notes that marijuana remains illegal under federal law, even as states continue to pass laws approving of its use within their state borders. "Marijuana concentrates, with potency levels far exceeding those of leaf marijuana, pose an issue of growing concern," it says.

Currently, 23 states and the District of Columbia have passed medical marijuana legislation. In addition to the 23 states with medical marijuana laws, 17 more have approved legislation regarding "CBD-only" marijuana. CBD is a cannabinoid/chemical compound of marijuana. That means 80 percent of states have approved some form of medical marijuana.

Meanwhile, Washington state, Colorado, Oregon, Alaska and Washington, D.C. have all passed laws approving recreational marijuana use.

On Tuesday, voters in Ohio rejected a ballot measure that would have legalized cannabis for both medical and recreational use.

Rosenberg on Wednesday said that voters should have an intellectually "honest" debate about legalizing marijuana. "I don't recommend it, but there is other stuff in our society that is dangerous that is perfectly legal," he said.

As for the Ohio vote, he said there are no broader conclusions to draw from the outcome, calling the ballot initiative "a weirdly written statutory scheme."

"I don't know that there are any great lessons to draw from it," he said. He noted that it is an "off-year election, so turnout may be a little bit lower. I see it as anomalous."

Rosenberg also spoke to reporters about rising crime rates. The Drug Threat Assessment Summary says that "Methamphetamine distribution and abuse significantly contribute to violent and property crime rates in the United States."

Even so, Rosenberg said he agreed with FBI Director James Comey, who has suggested that crime rates may be going up in major cities because police officers are too concerned about viral videos to enforce the law. Rosenberg was a senior staffer for Comey before becoming acting DEA chief. When it was pointed out to him that this point of view puts him at odds with the White House, Rosenberg said, "The White House is a building. I'm not sure I know what the White House thinks. I think Comey was spot on."

He added that Comey gave "a thoughtful and measured speech" on the matter. "When you are criticized on the left and the right, you have probably hit it just about perfectly," he said. Both Comey and Rosenberg have encouraged more data collection to more fully understand what is causing a spike in violence in certain cities.

Rosenberg added that he doesn't believe this so-called "Ferguson effect" would apply to federal officers, since they typically don't serve as first responders and don't wear body cameras.

Rosenberg also answered questions about Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, saying that he's optimistic that El Chapo will be caught and that the U.S. will press for extradition.

EAST TEXAS JUDGE: Y’ALL GIT MARRIED OR GO TO JAIL

Judge orders couples in misdemeanor cases to get married or go to jail

BarkGrowlBite | November 5, 2015

There’s nothing like East Texas justice. In an area of Texas where many people still believe the earth is flat and that God created the world in six (24 hour) days, it’s not unusual for judges to mete out justice in peculiar ways.

In Smith County, Judge Randall Rogers has given some misdemeanor defendants the choice of getting married or going to jail. And in one case he ordered the defendant to write Bible verses 25 times a day, specifically Proverbs 26:27 - Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

MORE EAST TEXAS COUPLES FORCED TO CHOOSE MARRIAGE OVER JAIL COME FORWARD

BY Meagan Flynn | Houston Press | November 3, 2015

Giving a young couple the “choice” of getting married or going to jail is kind of like blackmailing someone. The young person's misdemeanor assault charge or petty theft charge might stay a secret from an employer who would likely fire him— just as long as he just prematurely enters into lifelong matrimony with his girlfriend, right now.

That's exactly the kind of choice that Smith County Judge Randall Rogers has given to at least three misdemeanor defendants in his courtroom.

Back in August, Rogers was all over the media, in outlets as far away as the New York Daily News, when 21-year-old Josten Bundy came forward and explained that Rogers gave him the option of 15 days in jail—or getting married to his 19-year-old girlfriend, Elizabeth Jaynes, and writing Bible verses 25 times a day, specifically Proverbs 26:27. Bundy had been charged with assault after punching Jaynes's ex-boyfriend in the jaw when he was rude to her.

The couple “chose” marriage. And then, from 1,000 miles away, Sam Grover with the Freedom From Religion Foundation in Madison, Wisconsin, filed a complaint with the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct, claiming that Rogers's ultimatum violated the First Amendment's separation of church and state.

As news spread of the Bundy's strange punishment, other couples stumbled across the reports and thought they sounded pretty familiar. KLTV reports that, in July, Michelle Powell and her fiance faced misdemeanor theft charges in Rogers's courtroom after failing to pay for $100 worth of items in the Walmart self-checkout line. Upon learning that the couple was engaged, Rogers ordered that, as a condition of probation, the couple could not even come near each other for two years. Or, instead, they could just get married immediately. Within two weeks, they tied the knot.

KLTV reported that, according to court transcripts, Rogers told the couple,"I am not going to force you" and "this will turn out to be a life sentence."

In another case, a father claimed that his son, Benjerman Bull, appeared in court with his fiancee, both of them facing misdemeanor theft charges. The couple also told that they couldn't come in contact with each other as a condition of probation. Bull had explained to Rogers that the two of them lived together. And according to KLTV, Rogers replied: “Then you are going to have to move. You go around him on probation, you go to jail. You figure out how much that fiance cares for you. Now, if you get married, that's a different story."

So they chose marriage. Within four months, around the time they were already considering a divorce, Bull suffered a severe asthma attack and had to be put on life support—a decision that his wife made for him with legal power of attorney. Bull didn't make it. His father, Bill, told KLTV that the woman's decision is one the family opposed, and that Rogers, by essentially ordering the marriage, is the one who enabled it. “My son would not have wanted to live that way,” he said.

When the Houston Press spoke to Grover about Rogers's strange punishments in August, Grover said he had never heard of this happening before. Now that he's heard of the additional cases, he's considering using them to supplement the Bundy complaint, which is currently under investigation. “I think at this point Judge Rogers knows he messed up," Grover said, "and at this point it's just a matter of getting him to acknowledge that publicly.”

KLTV reported that, in transcripts from Powell's case, Rogers acknowledged that he didn't see anything wrong with this because he was giving the couple a choice.

THAT EXPLAINS IT

A young boy asks his mother, "Mama, what's the difference between Welfare and Racism?"

His mother explains, "Well, son, Welfare is when tax payers work hard every day so that we can get all our benefits. You know, like free housing, free health care, free education, free cell phones, grants to build community centers, more aid payments than retirees get, and so on and so forth, you know. That's Welfare."

"But Mama, don't the tax payers get angry about that?"

"Sure they do. And that's what we call Racism!"

WHY YOUNG CHICAGO BLACKS CANNOT GET GOOD JOBS

Video shows chaotic classroom riot at the Chicago Vocational Career Academy

The students in this video were obviously deficient in academics. Instead they were given a chance to learn a trade at the Chicago Vocational Career Academy and this is how they responded.

(The riot can be viewed after the black pitchman is finished)

It’s amazing that the teacher managed to keep her cool throughout this chaotic classroom riot. While her students may not be able to get a good job, they will however be well qualified to participate in Black Lives Matter demonstrations while shouting ‘kill the cops.’

And woe to the police officer who might be called into a classroom to quell such a riot. If he has to use any force, he will probably get fired once the videos showing him go viral on the internet.

DO YOUR DUTY, OFFICER O’MALLEY

A priest and a rabbi were driving brand new cars down a one-way street in New York when they recognized each other. After pulling over and exchanging some pleasantries, they decide to have a drag race in their new cars.

They start racing, and as luck would have it, the rabbi got the jump on the priest and got way ahead of him. The rabbi noticed that a traffic light ahead was turning red. He slowed down and came to a stop at the intersection.

In an attempt to catch up to the rabbi, the priest kept floor-boarding the gas pedal. Suddenly, he saw the rabbi stopped ahead. The priest slammed on the brakes but it was too late. He skidded into the back of the rabbi’s car.

Both cars were a mess, but luckily neither the priest nor the rabbi was hurt.

Officer O’Malley shows up to investigate the accident. He notes that one of the drivers is wearing a priest’s collar and the other one is wearing a yarmulke (skull cap) and prayer shawl.

O’Malley goes over to the priest and takes him aside. “Father,” he says, “the fact that you’re a priest and I’m a Catholic doesn’t matter. I’m going to have to be absolutely impartial in this matter.”

The priest says, “I understand. Do your duty, Officer O’Malley.”

O’Malley then asks the priest, “Father, how fast was that damn Jew backing up when he ran into you?”

ARACHNOPHOBE OR ASSHOLE?

West Virginia prosecutor threatens Halloween decorations with gun

By Bob Walsh

PACOVILLA Corrections blog
October 30, 2015

Christ White is an assistant prosecutor in Logan, W. Virginia. He is now on suspension. It seems he really doesn’t like, or is really afraid of, spiders. Including Halloween decoration spiders apparently / maybe. Anyway he pulled a gun (which he claims was unloaded, though why would he be carrying an unloaded gun?) and threatened to shoot the spider decorations in the office, freaking the office staff out.

The arachnophobe has now turned the whole office staff into gunphobes.

The spider decorations have been taken down and now nobody but investigative staff are allowed to carry guns in the office.

A LITTLE BOY WANTS VIAGRA

A 5-year-old boy with diarrhea tells his mom he needs Viagra.

The mom asks, “Why on earth do you need that?”

The little boy replies, “Isn’t that what you give dad when his shit won’t get hard?”
