WAS HARRIS COUNTY SHERIFF ED GONZALEZ SMOKING FUNNY TOBACCO?

Those flyers placed on the windshields of sheriff’s cars were not laced with Fentanyl

Remember when on June 26 Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced one of his deputies had been rushed to a hospital suffering from Fentanyl poisoning after touching a Fentanyl-laced flyer placed on the windshield of her cop car. Because similar flyers had been placed on the windshields of nearly a dozen other sheriff’s cars, Gonzalez had his department send out the following tweet:

URGENT: Flyers placed on the windshields of some #HCSO vehicles this afternoon at 601 Lockwood have tested positive for the opiod Fentanyl. One sergeant who touched a flyer is receiving medical treatment. Call authorities if you see these flyers and DO NOT TOUCH.

The tweet was accompanied by a photo of the flyer.

Well it turns out that lab tests revealed none of the flyers, including the one touched by the sergeant, were laced with Fentanyl. Furthermore, scientists say that you cannot absorb any Fentanyl through the skin by touching it. There is some danger in that the person touching the powder might accidentally inhale some particles.

So, if that sergeant was actually suffering from a Fentanyl reaction, the good sheriff ought to investigate what she has been indulging in during her off time.

Hey Ed! Were you smoking some funny tobacco when you issued that warning? Please remember, Texas had not yet legalized the recreational use of pot.
