Thursday evening the local constabulary in Calaveras County, CA responded to multiple calls of an armed man acting strange on Mountain Ranch Road. The local S. O. and the Highway Patrol both responded with a total of six officers. They found a man matching the broadcast description armed with what appeared to be a rifle with a laser sight.
The man, John James Corrigan, 38. swung the rifle at the cops. They shot him. He died.
The dead guy was a local child molester and doper. The weapon was in fact a fully automatic air rifle (aka BB gun) that had a barrel shroud and laser sight added to it after purchase. I wouldn't be surprised if substance abuse had something to do with his bad decision making. Damn shame. Or maybe not so much.
