NO MORE CLERGY AT TEXAS EXECUTIONS

by Bob Walsh

Prisons in the great state of Texas will no longer allow the presence of clergy in the death chamber at executions.

This is in reaction to a challenge by a prisoner who claimed his rights were being violated because the state would not allow his Buddhist spiritual adviser to be present. This resulted in the execution being blocked by SCOTUS.

State vetted Christian and Muslim clergy is available but there were no vetted Buddhist spiritual advisers available.
