Gregory and Amy Colburn are denizens of Palo Alto, CA. They are among those accused in the cheating scandal. They have moved to have their charges dismissed. They assert that, even IF they did it, they had no involvement with any of the other parents so the conspiracy charge is inappropriate. Their argument seems to pretend that their interactions with the "test consultant" do not meet the description of conspiracy. They seem to argue that their payment of $25 K to the test proctor was not a conspiracy.
The Colburn's son is alleged to have used a false SAT to apply to TCU, Indiana University, the University of Oregon and the University of Arizona.
Talking heads with a legal background say that this is unlikely to fly.
EDITOR'S NOTE; When two or more persons get together to plan a crime, that's a conspiracy. They got together with William Singer and paid him to fix the SAT result ... that's a conspiracy.
