The legislature is moving to make it extremely difficult or legally impossible to kick disruptive and troublesome kids out of school in the formerly great state of California.
Citing alleged actual statistics that show students of color, those with disabilities or LGBTQ students are more likely to be suspended for "low-level subjective offenses" like being disruptive, defiant to authority and generally assholeishness.
Assuming SB419 is passed into law in its current form it would prohibit such suspensions permanently for grades 4-8 and until Jan 1 2025 for grades 9-12. it is already illegal to suspend students in grades K-3 for disruptive behavior and defiance of staff.
