Leaving no doubt as to who was in charge of North Korea, Dear Leader Kim Jong-un had his uncle Jang Song-thaek executed in December 2013. Until his death at the hands of his nephew, Jang had been seen as the second most powerful leader of the hermit kingdom.

Until he got caught in 2001 trying to sneak into Japan with a fake passport so he could visit Tokyo Disneyland, Kim Jong-nam was believed to be the hair to his father Kim Jong-il’s throne. After his half-brother Kim Jong-un took over after their father’s death, Kim Jong-nam went into exile in 2003. He is believed to have spent most of his time in exile in Malaysia.

On Tuesday, while he was at Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur airport, two women sneaked up behind Kim Jong-nam and dispatched him to join his late uncle, using either needles or a chemical spray to poison him.

The two women escaped in a taxi, but on Wednesday Malaysian authorities announced they had arrested one of Kim Jong-nam’s assassins, a woman with a Vietnamese passport.

There is little doubt the assassination was ordered by Dear Leader Kim Jong-un.
