A veteran LAPD officer has accused a colleague she was having an affair with of spreading 'revenge porn' when she ended their romance.

Detective Ysabel Villegas, who has worked in the department's Robbery and Homicide division for 30 years, took her ex-lover, 55-year-old senior officer Danny Reedy, to court to obtain a restraining order in December.

Villegas told a judge that he spread explicit photographs of her after she ended their romance in 2017.

It is not clear how long they had been having an affair but Villegas was married at the time to former LAPD Assistant Chief Jorge Villegas, who resigned in October after being accused of having his own affairs with other subordinates within the department.

According to Ysabel, Reedy threatened her when she broke up with him, telling her in text messages: 'I will post the pictures. I swear. I will ruin u. Trust me. I'll destroy you so bad.'

Another read: 'Stand by for the destruction. Of your reputation. You're done.'

When she followed through on ending their relationship, he allegedly spread them among colleagues. It is not clear if he also posted them on social media or not.

'We don't know how many people have seen these explicit photos of her. We do have witnesses that [say] they were being passed around among different LAPD officers, which is highly inappropriate,' her attorney, Lisa Bloom, said on Wednesday outside court.

Villegas claimed in her complaint that he 'extorted' her but did not give any further details.

'He released intimate photos of me, extorting me.

'He was extorting and harassing me, and then released the photos in November because I broke up with him in August.

'It was revenge to ruin my reputation and embarrass me in front of our peers,' she said. 'This is the last place or the last thing I ever wanted to do. I'm just so sad that it came to this,' she added.

She has been on medical leave since last year, she said, because of the amount of stress the case has brought her.

'I love my job. It's the only job I've had where I got so much satisfaction and it's very sad to leave like this.

'This is not what I wanted to do. I don't deserve this,' she said.

A judge granted her request for a restraining order, saying the allegations were 'some of the most serious allegations that I've ever had to read in this courtroom.'

Reedy has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

He has neither admitted nor denied the accusations and did not attend yesterday's hearing.

His lawyer, Mike Williams, did appear on his behalf. He told the court: 'We are not admitting anything, nor are we denying anything
