Erica Hall, 32, used to live in Magnolia, Mississippi. Now it looks like she will be buried there.
She had a beef with her two daughters, age 12 and 14. They tried to run her down with her own car. Ms. Hall thought that was not nice, and took away their cell phones as punishment. They did not appreciate that, and stabbed and shot her to death.
The older girl, Amariyona Hall, is being held as an adult pending $150,000 bail. The younger girl, unnamed, is being held in juvenile detention.
AND YOU THOUGHT YOUR FAMILY WAS FUCKED UP

Roderick Colvin, 45, a New York stockbroker, is believed by the cops to have tried to frame his daughter Anna, then nine years old, in the 2010 death of his wife, Shele Danishefsky.
A confession surfaced in 2013, allegedly written by the girl who was then 12 years old. The Manhattan D. A. believes that Colvin himself wrote the note in an effort to divert suspicion from himself onto his daughter.
At the time of the death the couple was living separately in different apartments in the same building. A divorce was in the works. Danishefsky had changed her will eight days before her death, removing her ex from the will. Her estate was about $4 million, which she redirected solely to her children. He would otherwise have gotten half.
Her official cause of death was undetermined. Her family is Orthodox Jews and successfully opposed an autopsy. She had a head injury, possibly due to a slip and fall in the bathtub. Eventually the family gave permission to exhume and autopsy the body. Death was found to be due to manual strangulation.
Colvin is believed to have planned to kidnap his daughter and forcibly marry her to someone in Mexico.
Colvin was charged with murder in 2015, a few months before he would have inherited. The jury trial is scheduled for this month.
Damn, that is SLOW justice.
LEGALLY ARMED CITIZEN TERMINALLY REHABILITATES CHICAGO ARMED ROBBER

Early Tuesday morning (0600, that is early, at least for thugs) a 25-year old woman was hanging at the bus stop, waiting for her bus to show, when a 19-year old male walked up to her.
He pulled a gun. She pulled a gun. She shot. He caught one in the neck. He ran. He got one block. He died.
PG&E ABOUT TO FILE CHAPTER 11

The old head of PG&E bailed out over the weekend and Pacific Gas and Electric announced that they would be filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection at the end of this month. They are looking at tens of billions of dollars in liability for the wild fires in NorCal.
It remains to be seen how much the stock holders will be protected and how much the rate payers will be fucked. Probably a lot on each.
PARTY PARTY PARTY

Chico is generally considered to be one of the GREAT party towns in America, due to the presence of Chico State.
Over the weekend every cop in Chico (really) and virtually every ambulance in the county responded to a house full of people who had OD'd. One dead, over a dozen hospitalize. Four still critical. Clearly somebody needs to get a more reliable supplier of illegal drugs.
ANOTHER BIG LIE

Just 15 minutes ago some talking head on the magic box told me that my odds of dying due to an opioid overdose were now greater than my odds of dying in a car crash. That, my friends, is BULLSHIT.
I don't take street drugs. I don't take recreational, illegally obtained pharmaceuticals. I do have (from time to time), and do take (from time to time) opioid pain killers, under a doctors prescription, for a short period of time for specific medical reasons. My chance of dying from an opioid overdose are pretty much zero. They are certainly less than being smeared by an illegal alien unlicensed drunk driver.
Tell it big. Tell it often. Tell it with conviction. Do it enough, people will believe you, whether it's true or not.
BREXIT PROGRAM

There is supposed to have been a vote on Tuesday about the procedure for the U.K. extracting itself from the E.U. As I write this the vote has not yet happened, but it probably will. The vote will fail.
The U.K. ruling political class is a pack of statist socialist-communists, as is the bureaucracy. Pretty much like us. They are being as obstructive as possible in order to make the Brexit break either not happen or be as messy as possible, as a payback to the cheeky bastards who think the U.K. should be run by the subjects and voters of the U.K. and not by a pack of unelected communists in Brussels. The nerve of some people.
It will be instructive to see how things fall out.
ON STRIKE, SHUT IT DOWN

As I write this the L. A. Unified School District, the second largest in the nation, is undergoing a strike by their "educators." I think that is what we used to call teachers. As usual in such a thing, both sides have a valid point.
The teachers want more money. They think they deserve more money. They are right. Even the district administrators agree. They also want smaller classes. They think, correctly, that 40+ is unreasonable. They also want nurses and librarians back in the schools. That would be a good thing.
The district is saying that they don't have the money. They might be right. They do have the money to hire substitutes to try to keep functions. After all, they have to protect that ADA (average daily attendance) money. So far they are running around 50% attendance according to various guesstimates I have seen.
The district asserts that if they gave the union what they wanted the school would almost instantaneously be plunged into bankruptcy and receivership. That may, or may not, be true. They assert (correctly) that if that happens their school contracts would immediately be thrown into the crapper.
An, of course, that there is politics attached to all expenditures of public funds. Much of this is PAC muscle supplied by the unions.
I am GUESSING they will reach a settlement soon, but I am not BETTING on that. After all the talking heads said the federal government pseudo-shutdown would last only hours or at most days. We are now past three weeks.
So, who is willing to die on which hill?
EDITOR’S NOTE: No one should be foo led by their pontificating for smaller classes, more counselors, etc. The only reason the teachers are on strike is because they want more money!
Come to think of it, with the sorry state of public education in California, the students in L.A. are probably learning more while their teachers are on strike than they would be if the teachers were back in the classroom.
