THOUGHTS ON THINGS THAT OUGHT NOT TO BE DONE

by Bob Walsj

There are some things in the world that, it is generally agreed, a reasonable person ought not to do. You should not pull on Superman's cape. You should not spit into the wind. You should not pull the mask from the Lone Ranger. And you should not poke a big mean dog in the face with a stick.

The formerly great state of California is about to do the latter.

California is an odd place. It has about 42 million residents. At least 30 million of those are legal residents. The Democrat-Socialist party holds a super-majority in both houses of the legislature and all constitutional offices. Most of the area of California is actually centrist to center-right. However the major population centers of the greater Los Angeles area and greater San Francisco Bay area are overwhelmingly uber-liberal.

There is now legislation running thru the system that would, if approved and signed into law, strictly and specifically prohibit any local or state law enforcement officer in the state from cooperating with I.C.E.

In a way I would kind of like to see this idiocy pass. It would, I think, be a hoot to see federal agents arrest the Sheriff and Chief of Police of the City and County of San Francisco, among other places, for violation of federal immigration law. That being said, does anybody out there think that Donald Trump would just let this go? Get real. Now, he might not send out U. S. Marshalls to actually arrest Sheriffs and Police Chiefs. Though he might. He would, however, almost certainly pull the purse strings closed.

Trump doesn't bluff. At least so far he hasn't. What makes anybody think that he would let this slide without taking some sort of action. In a way I would hate to see it because of the disruption it could cause, but damn, wouldn't it be a hoot to watch?
