Maybe A Fair Measure Of Both
by Bob Walsh
On
Sunday afternoon a large majority of the Minneapolis City Council
announced their commitment to totally disband the police department.
(Please note that this is NOT the same thing as actually voting to do
that.)
City
Council President Lisa Bender stated, "Our efforts at incremental reform
have failed. Period." Pajama boy mayor Jacob Frey is opposed, but if
all the psycos on the council actually do vote for it, they can override
his veto.
The
P D does not have the best effectiveness record in the world. They
clear about 56% of their homicides and only 22% of their rapes. Last
year they "found" 1,700 rape kits that had never been processed. I
guess they were in somebody's desk drawer.
It is unclear what, if anything, the city council wants to replace the police department with.
The
Minneapolis public schools, the Parks and Rec Department the the
University of Minnesota have already acted to disassociate themselves
from the Minneapolis P D.
I
am sort of reminded of the recent vote by the city council in Seattle
to fuck over Amazon by charging them a huge "fee" for the employment of
their workers in their fair city. Amazon said FUCK YOU, WE'RE LEAVING.
The city council "rethought" their position (meaning they pissed all
over themselves) at the thought of Amazon leaving. I wonder what will
happen when (not if) businesses figure out that they have essentially
zero police protection. Perhaps their tax base will disappear in a puff
of smoke and the city will collapse of it's own collective stupidity.
Maybe
I am just a bad person, but I would like to see it happen. Then see
what these social justice warriors and virtue signalling assholes do.
