The stepfather of a missing four-year-old girl told Texas police that three Hispanic males knocked him unconscious and kidnapped his stepdaughter.
An Amber Alert was issued on Sunday for Maleah Davis who was reportedly taken by the three men while traveling with her stepfather, Darion Vence, to pick up her mother, who was flying in from Massachusetts, from the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston .
Vence, 26, told investigators that he had Maleah and his two-year-old son with him on Friday night around 9pm when the attack occurred, Sgt Mark Holbrook of the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division said during a press conference. He claimed he heard a 'popping noise' that prompted him to pull over and check his tire.
Shortly after pulling over, Vence told police that a blue Chevrolet Crew Cab pick-up truck pulled up behind him and two Hispanic males in their 30s approached his vehicle. One of the men reportedly made a comment that 'Maleah looks very nice, looks very sweet,' before the second man knocked Vence over the head.
According to police, Vence remained unconscious for nearly 24 hours before fully waking up around 6pm on Saturday on Highway 6 and realizing that Maleah was gone.
