The People's Republic of San Francisco is moving to prohibit its police force from using facial recognition technology in any form for any reason.
Aaron Peskin, member of the Board of Stupidvisors, believes that the use of this technology endangers the civil rights of criminals.
Berkeley and Santa Clara County have regulations about the purchase and use of facial recognition software, but does not ban its use outright.
The crime-ridden and gang-infested shithole of Oakland is considering legislation similar to the S. F. proposal later this month.
Why don't they simply find and declare that "criminal" is an acceptable job description and protect that under law. It would at least be intellectually honest.
