It appears that prisoners at two facilities in the formerly great state of California decided to get stupid on the same day a couple of days back.
The disturbances kicked off at more or less the same time on Wednesday at Pleasant Valley State Prison in Coalinga and less than a half hour later at the Avenal State Prison ten miles away.
About 134 inmates were involved in the earlier riot. About 80 were involved in the latter incident. The riots were broken up with pepper spray and other less-lethal weapons.
A total of 11 guests of the state required medical treatment at outside hospitals. No staff were reported injured. A fair number of inmate manufactured weapons were recovered. .
