WAG is an acronym. It stands for Wild-Ass Guess. This is as opposed to a SWAG, which is a Scientific Wild-Ass Guess.
I am forced to go with the conventional wisdom. I believe it is very likely the GOP will pick up one or two senate seats and reasonably possible they will pick up three or four seats.
I also believe the Democraps will take over the house by a HANDFUL of votes. They need 23 to get a simple majority. So I am guessing they will get 25-30. That being said I will not be surprised if the GOP manages to hang on to the house. Just as I thought there would be a SUBSTANTIAL closet Trump vote two years ago I believe there will be a substantial closet pro-Trump vote this time around. I realize that Trump is not on the ballot, but even more so than most mid-term elections this will be a referendum of Trump.
Trump is unusual, unique even, in politics. He does not fit the regular models so actions and reactions to Trump may very well not fit the regular models either. There has been a huge push to nationalize what are essentially 435 local elections. It has to some extent worked. I hope it will be enough, but I am not betting next month's beer money on it.
