Karisma Ashlee James was an Iraq War veteran and a nurse. The single mother was run down and killed in the parking lot of the Tippin Elementary School in El Paso, Texas on Monday. The 33-year old jumped in front of a moving car that was accelerating backwards towards three children, including her two children. The children were seriously injured but will survive. James died.
The driver, a 58-year old man, was backing up and hit the gas instead of the brake. He MAY have been having some sort of medical problem. The matter is under investigation.
