A fight between a couple turned deadly Monday morning when they took their argument to the streets in southeast Houston, police said.

The boyfriend died on the Interstate 45 service road, south of Airport, after he sideswiped his girlfriend’s car and was ejected from his vehicle, according to Houston police Sgt. D. Rodriguez.

The scene unfolded around 1 a.m., when the couple got in a fight at a restaurant. They left in separate vehicles and the woman clipped an open door on her boyfriend’s white truck, Rodriguez said.

They began following each other, and at one point, they got out of their cars – one of which was parked in a moving lane of traffic – and argued, Rodriguez said.

The boyfriend and girlfriend got back in their separate cars. The man then sideswiped his girlfriend’s car, and he lost control of his vehicle, according to the sergeant. He struck a pole, rolled over and was thrown from his truck.

The man, 31, died at the scene, and the woman was not injured. She was not intoxicated, Rodriguez said.
