SELF-DRIVING SHUTTLE BUS CRASHES ON FIRST DAY

by Bob Walsh

Amid much fanfare a self-driving shuttle bus service fired up I Las Vegas on Wednesday. It crashed on it's first day.

The self-driving vehicle does have an attendant-monitor on board but that person has no access to controls (other than presumably an emergency stop button). The vehicle does not have a steering wheel, brake or accelerator.

The 12 passenger bus is currently free to riders, though eventually a fare will be charged.

It collided with a semi. No one was injured and there is no information on who was at fault in the collision.
