Vegas Casinos have upped the ante for security with on premise SWAT

I visit Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and Biloxi several times a year. I shoot craps, play slots and maybe see a show or two. Last week I visited Mandalay Bay. You would expect subtle changes after the mass shooting. I saw security with long guns entering stair wells and off duty Metro Officers working the floor.
Most people aren't aware that concealed carry is also legal in Las Vegas. Nevada also has reciprocity agreements with most states. I saw a handsome 1911 being carried under a Hawaiian shirt by a gentleman shooting craps as he leaned over to place a bet.
I like to indulge in a cold adult beverage on occasion, so I usually don't carry when visiting sin city. However, I will carry a stun gun while walking the strip. Even our limo driver was carrying a Glock and a spare magazine. He was retired Vegas Metro PD. He said Vegas properties preferred hiring retired cops as drivers. I asked about the SWAT officers and he told me that they were mostly former Military Special Ops and SWAT Cops working as contractors. Magnetometers were also strategically placed throughout the properties.
If a criminal with prior bad deeds enters a property, the facial recognition notifies security. All in all, the corporations have improved their security efforts.
The mob seldom had problems
I've been visiting Vegas for many years. Some of the casinos were still mob owned. I remember placing a pretty substantial odds bet behind the pass line at the Tropicana. I won. A man on my right nudged me fairly hard and then proceeded to apologize while brushing my shirt with his hand. The man on my left picked up the winnings. The stick man saw it pointed and a dark haired gorilla trotted after the guy. Just as they reached the front door, the gorilla snatched him up. They disappeared into the tropical gardens outside. The stick man paid me my bet and the dice kept on rolling. The guy that was on my right was long gone.
It was kind of comforting to know that a sociopath who had been trained in his job was protecting you. It worked and here is why. There were no rights read. They took a cheat out back, broke his arm and told him to never return. The patrons dressed nicer and there was seldom any drama on the floor. Simple and easy.
Corporal punishment works. If you don't believe me, go visit any Juvenile Detention Center. That's where the kids go that never got spanked.
That's they way I see it.
