Yes, it's true. The formerly great state of California is now the first state in the union to ban discrimination against people based on their hair style, assuming that their hair style is associated with their racial identity.
So, if you are Black, or at least feel that you should be Black, you can wear a ten-inch Afro at work but if you are White your employer can still fire your ass for wearing a bizarre, extreme hair style at work.
Courts have typically held that a hair style is changeable, so that there is no basis for a discrimination complaint based on hair style. Recently SCOTUS declined to hear a case from a woman who complained that she did NOT get a job because of her hair style.
The bill was written by CA. state senator Holly Mitchell, of LA, who is Black and who typically wears her hair in dreadlocks.
We might not be safe from murderous psychopathic undocumented Democrats, but as of January 1 we will be safe from hairstyle discrimination. Shit, I feel better already.
