Recently the University of California paid out $80,000 in damages on a harassment beef to a grad student in exchange for her not suing them.
The student, Eva Hagberg Fisher, 35, alleges that from 2012 to 2014 she was harassed by Professor Nezar AlSayyad, a tenured professor in Architecture and a noted Middle East scholar. He has not been given any classes since 2016 but continues to draw his $211,000 per year salary.
In the 149 year history of the U. C. system only eight professors have lost tenure. The investigation currently under way by the faculty senate could result in the 62-year old Al'sayyad becoming number nine. He has denied any wrong doing. An independent investigation finds that he did in fact sexually harass the young lady.
In the great scheme of things $80,000 is chump change. UC recently paid out $1.7 million in a harassment beef.
