A very interesting detail came out on Friday about the Roy Moore senate election. The young woman who asserts that Moore molested her last century when he was 32 and she was 14 admitted that the "evidence" she presented to professional firebrand Gloria Allred is in fact a forgery. Which is probably why Allred refused to allow a legitimate forensic examination of the yearbook.
I have a tad of experience in similar things from when I was the Chief Job Steward at DVI, a prison facility in CA. If you bring charges against someone and it is later PROVEN that the charges were false, the people bringing the charges KNEW they were false and went ahead with the case anyway it pretty much makes the victim of this misrepresentation bulletproof in the future, even if they are the biggest dump truck that ever came down the pike.
Don't get me wrong. I strongly suspect that Moore is guilty as sin. There is, however, no actual PROOF of his guilt as far as I know and now the only alleged proof available is not only known to be fake but admitted to be fake. It is my understanding that Moore is slightly ahead in the polls, just a tad outside of the margin for error. The election is this Tuesday. This could push Moore over the top.
Outright lies are dangerous. If you get caught at it it does not make your position better, or even neutral. It makes it worse, sometimes immeasurably worse. And it will make it very hard for the senate to try to deny Moore his seat if he is elected as his alleged transgression took place many, many years before his (probable) election to the Senate.
That is why political derangement is so dangerous. You become so focused on " I must do ANYTHING to stop this person/program/position" that YOU become the problem. When you gaze into the abyss the abyss is gazing back at you. Sometimes you blink first.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Sorry Bob, but it was not the woman who was 14 at the time. It was another woman, Beverly Young Nelson, who has admitted she inserted her own words by adding the date and location under Moore's signature in the yearbook. The woman who was sexually assaulted by Moore when she was only 14 and he was 32 remains credible.
