HASH OIL AND BUTANE EXPLAINS A LOT

by Bob Walsh

There was one hell of a fire in L A at about 6:30 this last Saturday evening. It was accompanied by an explosion which peeled the paint and set fire to the seats on a fire truck parked across the street. Twelve firefighters were injured. Two of them are critical, but likely to survive. Several had to climb down a ladder thru a fireball. Others fled thru a wall of fire that melted their helmets and set fire to their turnout gear. It was nasty.

The facility was a hash oil manufacturing plant. It was operated by Smoke Tokes. The company makes various hash oil products as well as butane torches and similar products. Butane is clear, colorless and highly flammable.

The Fire Department Arson Squad, the LAPD Major Crimes Unit and the BATFE are all looking into the explosion.
