DARWIN AWARD NOMINEE

by Bob Walsh

My most recent nominee is one Prabhu Bhatara. He attempted to take a selfie of himself and a wounded, wild bear at Odisha, India. He and a number of other people were driving back from a wedding when they stopped to take a leak in the forest area. Bhatara spotted the bear and, despite his friends warning, walked into the grassy area where the injured bear was to get a selfie. It was a really, really bad idea. The bear was captured and is receiving medical treatment for it's injuries.

He is the third person to die in that area while attempting to take a selfie with a wild animal. The other two tried to get selfies with wild elephants. That didn't go well either.
