A dozen gang members have been arrested in New York for allegedly threatening to kill policemen and rival criminals on social media.

The so-called TBO gang posted a series of violent threats on Facebook and YouTube, where they bragged about their crimes.

One suspect, Yasin Shearin, who was charged with conspiracy, was once accused of of making a terrorist threats in a Facebook post which read: 'Let's kill the cops.'

Shearin posted that rant, complete with emojis of a gun and cops, hours after Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjin Liu were shot dead in December 2014.

He is said to be a member of the TBO gang [True Bosses Only] who are locked in a bitter battle with several others, the New York Daily News reported.

He was one of a dozen alleged gang members indicted for conspiracy for allegedly using social media as part of a criminal operation.

Other gang members, all aged between 17 and 26, have all been fighting with three other crews: Elm Street Piru, Loot Gang and 900 Gang.

'This indictment describes a terrifying mix of deadly force and mindless obsessions with turf, leading to serious consequences for innocent bystanders,' said Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

TBO are said to be behind ten shootings which left seven injured. Three incidents were caught on video surveillance, prosecutors said.
