PUBLISHER AND STAFF OF SAN ANTONIO WEEKLY WILT UNDER RELENTLESS BARRAGE OF PHONE CALLS AND VOICE MAILS CONDEMNING THREAT TO PUBLISH POLICE OFFICER NAMES AND ADDRESSES

Stephanie Zarriello, the publisher and editor-in-chief of The San Antonio Observer, now says her threat was intended to “make an officer think twice before shooting so fast and killing an unarmed person.”

On Saturday, Stephanie Zarriello, the publisher and editor-in-chief of The San Antonio Observer, announced that her weekly tabloid, The San Antonio Observer, was going to publish the names and addresses of all San Antonio police officers. Was incensed over the police shooting of an unarmed man which she called a “murder.”

In making her announcement Saturday, Zarriello said, “Like Ku Klux Klansman with hoods, [officers] do everything they can in order to protect their identities for fear of being brought to justice. Just as the names and addresses of sex offenders are publicized in order to protect the public from their wicked behavior, we feel that our community has the right to the exact same level of protection [from getting shot by cops].”

Well, all that did not sit well with a lot of people. Zarriello and her staff wilted under a relentless barrage of phone calls and voice mails from all over the country which condemned the threat to publish the names and addresses of police officers.

Zarriello now says the Observer, which I suspect is used mostly to line the bottom of bird cages, will not publish the names and addresses of San Antonio cops. She said the threat was only intended to “make an officer think twice before shooting so fast and killing an unarmed person.”

So for all you cops out there who had an apoplectic fit when you heard about Zarriello’s threat, you can now relax.
