Boalt Hall has been the home of the U. C. Berkeley law school for longer than I can remember. It is now dead and stinking.
The law school itself is still there. The building still exists, and is still used to house the law school. They have, however, kicked John Boalt to the curb.
John Bolt was, like many of his 19th century counterparts, a racist. He was personally largely responsible for the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. He died in 1901. He was a lawyer but was never either an instructor nor a student at Berkeley. After he kicked off his widow donated the money to build the building.
Back in 2017 his anti-Chinese positions came to the surface. That was the end of Boalt Hall. Effective two days ago his name was removed from the building. I wonder if any of his descendants can sue? Somehow that would be fitting.
EDITOR'S NOTE: At the very least, those Berkeley PC dick heads should return the donation to the Boalt heirs.
