NOT ALL URBAN PREDATORS ARE BI-PEDS

by Bob Walsh

There have been a number of coyote attacks on humans recently within the city of Chicago. Both an adult man and a five-year old boy have been injured in recent attacks. There have also been reported attacks on pets. The cops and animal control believe that the attacks are the work of the same animal, which has been seen limping and may be injured.

Coyote attacks on humans are very rare. They are incredibly adaptable and can live very successfully in urban areas with humans being unaware of their presence for the most part. They are opportunistic hunters and will seldom bother anything too big for them to kill and eat with little trouble.

On a similar note, there have been increasing reports of large animals, including bears, invading areas of Detroit in recent years. Whole city blocks inside the city have been abandoned.
