ATLANTA HALTS ALL POLICE PURSUITS

by Bob Walsh

The Chief of Police of Atlanta, Erika Shields, announced that they will stop ALL police chases for any reason whatsoever while the department reviews its policies in the matter.

Last month two honest citizens were killed in two separate incidents by bad guys the cops were chasing.

"The pursuit itself is just not essential," she is quoted as saying.

Under the old policy police were only allowed to chase if a suspect was known to have a deadly weapon and was believed to pose an immediate threat of violence or was believed to have already committed serious physical harm. Active car chases were limited to not more than three vehicles.

Many of the actual cops and many local citizens are not thrilled with the new policy.
