Angela Alioto is running for Mayor of the People's Republic of San Francisco. She comes from an old SF family with political ties. Joe Alioto, her grandfather (I think) was previously the mayor.
She has announced that she will lead an attempt to get an item on the November ballot that would remove Sanctuary City protection from any person who has committed or is being charged with a "violent felony." (The definition of that in California is not what a normal person would call a violent felony, but something is better than nothing.)
She is catching heat from the current mayor and most of the other mayoral candidates.
She has expressed puzzlement at the opposition, stating, "I don't understand why Mark Leno (another mayoral candidate) would want to protect felons. The intent of the law was never to protect felons, whether they are immigrant felons or not."
It is too early to tell if there are enough semi-normal human beings left in S.F. to create a voting base to support reasonableness.
