ELEVATOR OPERATORS ARE MAKING A COMEBACK

That is, of course, CIVIL SERVICE elevator operators or, as BART calls them, elevator monitors. It seems that Bay Area Rapid Transit riders ae tired of being grossed out by the fact that many of their fellow passengers traditionally use the elevators as latrines. The attendants are supposed to discourage this activity. For now those attendants will be at the underground stations in San Francisco. Those stations no longer have public bathrooms, due to "security concerns." The shitters are still there of course, its just that they are never unlocked since 9-11.

Of course you should expect such pro-active movement in a city where the publish maps to show tourists areas to avoid due to large piles of human feces and used needles on the sidewalks.
