Florida man mistakes his wife for a burglar and shoots her twice in the hip

A man accidentally shot his wife twice after mistaking her for a burglar.
Nathan and Allison Simmons, both 31, thought they heard an intruder in their suburban Orlando home before going to bed last week.
As a precaution, Nathan put his gun on his nightstand.
About 45 minutes later, Allison got up to use the bathroom using her cell phone's light to find her way.
She woke up her husband as she left the bathroom, prompting him to grab the gun and shoot her twice in the hip fearing it was the intruder.
Winter Garden police responded to a call by Nathan saying he accidentally shot his wife.
Allison was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Both the husband and wife gave similar accounts of the incident, according to officials.
The investigation is ongoing.
