The “Texas Knife Law Reform Bill” went into effect September 1. The bill was passed by the state legislature and signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott. The new law lifts a ban on weapons named after any hero of the Texas Revolution, most notably the Bowie knife.
Also lifted was a ban on daggers, including dirks, stilettos and poniards, swords and spears.
Stilettos? Does that mean until now women could not legally wear high-heeled shoes? And Gregg Abbott … now where have I heard that name before? Oh yeah, he’s that guy who said, “We only kill black people.”
Oh well, I'm thrilled that our Texas lawmakers finally passed some vital legislation. Whooppie! It is now legal to carry knives that most Texas men carried anyway.
