The Lutheran Church Charities of Joplin, MO. owns two comfort dogs, both Golden Retrievers. They dispatch these animals to mass casualty events where they have found the dogs to have a remarkable calming effect on injured people.
A van carrying these two wonderful critters was shot multiple times at about 5 a.m.as the van was pulling out of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin yesterday mornign. Both humans in the van and both dogs were shot. Fortunately all are likely to recover.
The suspected shooter, Tom Mourning, 26, also shot up a pickup truck, injuring both occupants before he was captured by the police.
The suspect’s father called the cops to report that the asshole was shooting at the family home. The cops showed up and pursued him and he apparently just started to shoot at moving vehicles from his own vehicle.
I hope they give the asshole 100 years, without parole. Anybody who would do something like that is a danger of society and deserves no slack.
EDITOR’S NOTE: 100 years seems hardly enough!
