SANDERS COMPETES WITH BIDEN FOR BLACK VOTE

Bernie Sanders promises to change the name of the city named after a slave owner

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri -- In a campaign speech Friday at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Dearborn, Michigan, Bernie Sanders told his black audience that George Washington should not be honored because he was a slave owner.

Sanders said his first act as President will be to change the name of the nation’s capital from Washington to Lincoln in honor of the President who freed the slaves.

Sanders said that while he would have liked to change the name of the Washington Monument to the Martin Luther King Jr. Monument, he would not do so because MLK already had a monument next to the National Mall. Instead he will change the name to the Malcom X Monument, in honor of the assasinated civil rights leader.

During a press conference in Dearborn, Sanders was asked to justify his recent praise of Fidel Castro. Sanders said he would not apologize for crediting Castro with providing a first-class education and free medical care for all Cubans. Furthermore, the Democratic Socialist said he would change the name of the J. Edgar Hoover Building to the Che Guevara Building in honor of the Marxist revolutionary who fought the oppressive rule of the wealthy over the poor throughout Latin America. He added that Hoover was an out-and-out racist who should not be honored in any way.

Speaking to members of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Springfield Missouri on Saturday, Joe Biden was quick to blast Sanders for his plans. Biden said: “As sure as I am standing here in the great state of Mississippi, it is ridiculous to change the name of our nation’s capital from Philadelphia to Lincoln.” He added that while Washington’s ownership of slaves was reprehensible to him, he would not change the name of the Washington Monument.

Biden then attacked Sanders for wanting to call the FBI building the Che Guevara Building. “While I agree that Hoover was a racist, to name that building after a murderous communist is beyond the pale. As President, I will change the name of the J. Edgar Hoover Building to the Malcom X Building.” Biden then told his black audience, “I promise you that as President, I will mandate that on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, all nonessential employees in the US must be given a paid day off from work.”

Sanders then said the nation does not need a senile President who confuses Missouri with Mississippi and Washington, DC with Philadelphia and who often doesn’t seem to know where he is. “Why, he even confused his wife with his sister,” Sanders said.

President Trump tweeted: “These are the two clowns, Sleepy Joe and Crazy Bernie, who are competing for the Democratic nomination. God help us all.”
