THAT IS GONNA GET EXPENSIVE I EXPECT

by Bob Walsh

Way back when, when dinosaurs still roamed the earth, I had a license to drive a cab. It required, among other things, fingerprinting and an actual police background check.

Right just now an Uber driver, an illegal alien from Mexico, is looking at a minimum of ten felony criminal charges relating to sexual assault against intoxicated passengers. He is being held pending a $1.4 million bail in San Luis Obispo County. He was in fact a valid Uber driver, though he was not always driving on the Uber app when he picked up his victims.

I can't help but think that Uber must not be doing any sort of effective background check, despite their claims to the contrary, if they can't even figure out one of their drivers is a previously deported illegal alien.

Maybe a few massive civil lawsuits will convince them that it is cheaper AND better to do an actual, effective check of their drivers.
