Yvonne Raquel Ramirez and Joshua McKiney are both 19. They live in the greater Houston area and had been seeing each other for a couple of weeks. Ms. Ramirez took advantage of the relationship to rip off McKiney's firearms, then offered to sell them back to him for $2,000. They got together again but the deal went sideways. A witness allegedly saw McKinney pull a gun and put it to Ramirez's head. That witness ran and called the cops. Then Ramirez came up with her own gat and lead started flying. McKiney is dead and Ramirez is in the hospital with a bullet in her shoulder.
I am not up on the law in Texas so I don't know whether or not Ramirez's self-defense claim is going to hold water. In CA it probably would, but CA is in a different universe most of the time.
