UNITED FUCK UP UPDATE

While United’s CEO publicly apologized profusely, Dr. David Dao remains hospitalized

Here is some updated information on the incident in which three Chicago airport cops bloodied a passenger and dragged him off a plane when he refused to give up his seat.

In addition to the officer already suspended, the airport has now suspended the other two officers as well.

While United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz publicly apologized to Dr. David Dao, he blamed Dao in an internal memo, saying that the doctor was “disruptive and belligerent.”

However, several passengers claim that throughout the encounter Dao was upset but not belligerent or violent. While he refused to give up his seat, Dao was calm, soft-spoken and not combative when confronted by the airport cops.

At first Dao and his wife agreed to accept $800 each to give up their seats but he changed his mind when he learned they would not be able to catch another flight to Louisville until the next day.

Dr. Dao has a checkered past. Documents from the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure show he was convicted of multiple felony counts of obtaining drugs by fraud or deceit in November 2004 and was placed on five years of supervised probation in January 2005. Dao surrendered his medical license in February 2005. His license to practice medicine was restored in 2015 under limited conditions.

According to the New York Post, Dao provided prescriptions for Vicodin and other narcotics to Brian Case, a former patient he later hired as his office manager. He gave Case drugs and cash for blow jobs.

Dao remains hospitalized with unspecified injuries.

Checkered past notwithstanding, United blew this one big time!
