Phillip Mosley is a security guard at Galveston’s classy San Luis Resort Hotel. The hotel is one of the properties owned by Tillman Fertitta who also owns the Golden Nugget casinos. The hotel’s security guards are unarmed and wear uniforms that are almost identical to the uniforms worn by Galveston police officers.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, Mosley was on foot patrol at the hotel’s back parking lot when he spotted three men acting suspiciously. As he approached the men they suddenly opened fire at him. Mosley was struck 11 times.

Mosely was rushed to a hospital where he underwent surgery. His uncle said that one round struck Moseley in the chest. The Galveston Police Department reports that Mosley is in stable condition.

The three gunmen fled and, as of Monday morning, have not been apprehended. They must be considered extremely dangerous because, considering the similarity in uniforms, for all they knew, they were gunning down a Galveston police officer.

Shot 11 times ….. God must have been looking after Phillip.
