If subjecting a female to unwanted attention constitutes sexual harassment, then I confess

Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein’s reprehensible behavior toward women has unleashed an avalanche of sexual harassment and sexual assault charges against movie directors, actors and politicians. And there have been multiple allegations against actor Kevin Spacey of sexual assaults against men.
The latest allegations involved Minnesota democratic Senator Al Franken who has been accused of a sexual assault during a 2006 USO tour in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Leeann Tweeden, now a morning news anchor on 790 KABC in Los Angeles, says of Franken:
“You forcibly kissed me without my consent, grabbed my breasts while I was sleeping and had someone take a photo of you doing it.”
Franken has admitted sexually assaulting Tweeden and has apologized to her. She accepted the apology, but the feminist group UltraViolet declared on Facebook that, “Every man who sexually harasses or assaults women must be held accountable, no matter their position or party. Sen. Al Franken should resign.”
Now a second woman has come forward to accuse Franken of grabbing her ass while they were having a picture taken together. Franken says he doesn’t remember the incident but apologized to the woman nevertheless.
Roy Moore, a conservative Christian family values candidate for the U.S. Senate in Alabama, has been accused by several women of sexually harassing or assaulting them when they were teenagers and he was a District Attorney in his 30s. Leigh Corfman alleges that she was only 14-years old when she was at Moore’s house where he sexually assaulted her. Here is a description of Corfman’s accusation:
“He took off her shirt and pants and removed his clothes. He touched her over her bra and underpants, and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear.”
Even though Moore took her home when she asked him to, that was clearly a sexual assault on a 14-year-old child by the then 32-year-old Assistant District Attorney. Despite calls for him to get out of the Senate race, as of now Moore denies all of the sexual misconduct allegations against him and is determined to stay in the race.
A man in his 30s who preys on teen aged girls is a sicko! I do not believe that’s acceptable behavior in Alabama. Maybe in West Virginia, but not in Alabama.
The Defense Department has just reported that 26,000 members of our armed services were victims of sexual assault during Fiscal Year 2012. Looks like it’s still a man’s army.
I remember when not all that long ago a good looking woman in Italy expected to have men pinch her ass as she walked along. I suspect the ass pinching is now no longer an acceptable practice.
Which begs the question: Who among us men is not guilty of sexual harassment?
If subjecting a female to unwanted attention constitutes sexual harassment, then I must confess that I am guilty. While in high school, in the army, in college and beyond I acknowledge that I pursued females who were not interested in me. Shame on me!
UltraViolet demands that, “every man who sexually harasses or assaults women must be held accountable.” Now men, let me hear you say that you are not guilty of sexual harassment.
